"Since The Moon Was Out All Day"

There will be no moon tonight.
Whether hurt and confused
or merely not as young as she use to be,
she puts her toes into warm comfortable socks, thick
and blankets herself.
She watches some stars from the other side.
(They twinkle just the same and as brillantly bright.)
"I don't worry." she says,"The night will be alright:
sleeping,
sleeping, dreaming & wishing will all go on."

Whatever moon there was,
or is, or will be,
I know that it was her own doing.
Such audacity!
Shining in the broad blue day light sky
as if she were somebody-
as if she all along knew where she was going & why.
